VC at RCI

I have talked with several VC at RCI this week. They are clueless to the increase that was mentioned in an earlier thread for exchange fees. Not one of the 4 or 5 that I have talked with knew anything about this increase.

Some Guides have a little experience, but most have clearly just been recruited off an ad, given a bit of training and then told to get on the phones and pretend to know more than experienced owners. They are clearly non-owners, non-timeshare people, trying to do a job they have no real-life experience about.

IG has said that most experienced owners on Internet timeshares forums know more than Guides. He has has even said that many of us know more than he does about some subjects. I think he said that.

When I have to call a Guide, which I did this week, it takes all the patience and understanding I can muster. I lose that when they start pretending to know stuff they clearly don't. This week it took an obviously new Guide about 10 minutes to tell me what unit was available at a resort, when I know from experience there was only one. I was a good boy and played the little game with him.

Who is IG?

I am not familiar with the initials or acronym IG. Is this a current or former RCI employee?

Those who know me know me for my acronyms and phraseology. Over Yonder, LOL, HOF, ECPLOF, AOF, CNDN, SB, SWSRN, etc.

In this case IG stands for Inside Guy, and, yes, he is with the Firm, having spent his time on the phones some time ago.

The heads up notices about the increase were sent to resort affiliates by email. That info may not have been passed on the the VG's yet, however.

I had to speak to a VC today, and she was clearly reading from scripted responses. She was pleasant enough but if I asked her anything out of the ordinary she would have been lost.

I spoke to a rep in Ireland.....great job.

I spoke to a rep in Manila......terrible job.

I spoke to a rep in Mexico city.....fantastic job.

I didn't discuss the new fees.....why bother......they got the job done in two of three cases.
