  • Metal Detecting on vacation?

Does anybody own a Metal Detector? If so do you take it on vacation and what have you found?

    I have whites MXT pro.

This year I have found 9 rings. 2 of them gold, 1 Platinum, 2 silver & 4 kids.
I found this hobby is a good way to clear the mind when I am not on vacation sitting on a beach.

Not on vacation, but I have found several dozen survey pins.

    My metal detector broke.

        Good catch. I missed that.

I wonder how deep they were, and what kind of metal.

Every now and then I see someone on the beach doing that. It never occurred to me that so many people take their rings off before they go in the water. And then forget them!

Yes I own a Fisher F5 and a Teknetics Delta 4000. We took the Delta with us to Gulf Shores, Alabama last summer. I had only been detecting for a few months and it was my first try at beach detecting. Found a number of coins, but more tent stakes and screw-on bottle caps!

I bought a metal detector for about $250 and use it to find survey pins. I did take it to a park with the grand kids and found 25 cents and a bunch of old bottle caps. My son used it to find his keys in the snow. It mostly sits in the shop and collects dust.
