More than a foot of water in the streets today in about 1/2 hour of downpour.
That's the scary part of our rains.
One minute it's sunny then the next we are flooding.

And there was an alligator sunning himself by the canal near Mom's house this afternoon.
I guess he needed to dry off too.

Mom's freaking out as if she never knew they were in the canals.
I guess she's never seen swamp wars.

No rain for 2 days now, and it's the second day of another heat wave.

Guess you could say we are having a drought. Have been in Nova Scotia for the last week, but came back to 32 degree weather here with a humidex of 42 until Thursday. I understand from a client of mine that New York is also experiencing this as well.

We have had my daughter's dog that is scared of lightening for the last three weeks so of course it has rained once or twice every day. The only people I know with "lawns" have synthetic grass. They vacuum not mow.

hmm, that'd be pretty cool. anyone turn a Roomba into a mower yet? If I could have the little bugger out there all the time, that would be a huge timesaver!!!

Weather: Dangerous Heat Advisory for the Northeast

Just another hot & humid July
              here in Baltimore Maryland

Temps this past week have been in the mid 90s
Todays high temp expected to reach 99 degrees
with beautiful sunny skies and heat index over 100.
Saturday * Potential for Severe Thunderstorms *

Our grass is still green and flowers love this heat.

We actually don't have it so bad here, mostly mid-eighties lately, but a Facebook pal of mine southeast of us has lost all but seven of his thirty-five roasting chickens. He got a fan for them after the first couple died last week but it hasn't helped. His broilers are doing better, although he's lost some, but his turkeys are fine so far.

That's a good chunk of their yearly meat, so he's really hoping for a good deer hunting season.

Where I live - west of Seattle - we haven'y had any rain in more than two months now. If we don't water our lawns they would have been brown a month ago. No fire danger warnings yet, but I see a lot of trees having stress.

Hubby says it rained like crazy at work yesterday; we didn't get it at home, but the temp dropped a bit. Today it's supposed to hit the nineties, but still nothing like the 100s they've been getting a bit southwest of us. We get more lake effect snow than they do, and I think we must get more of the lake's moderating influence in the summer, too.
