You can buy tonic water and it has quinine in it. It's sold in the mixer /soda dept of the grocery store, usually near ginger ale and mixers . A lady on a flight to the UK had told me her Dr. recommended it. I usually get a can of it on the plane when I am on a long haul flight and it seems to help with leg cramps for me.

I keep potassium tablets on my nightstand and I take one if I get leg cramps during the night. It usually takes the cramps away like magic...although when I told my doctor that it worked, he said, "It does?" I said, "Shouldn't it?" And he said, "Well, it doesn't usually work like that, but if it works for you, great!"

After that I thought it must be some sort of mind trick, that I had thought potassium would work so it did, and that it would stop working for me because my doctor had burst my bubble. But it still works, and it's been a couple of years since he said that, so I don't think it's psychological.

Cal Mag was short for Calcium and Magnesium. I currently use chelated Calcium, Magnesium and Zinc whenever I work or exercise a lot during the day. Back when I played a lot of basketball, I took Potassium pills and they seemed to work then but they do not now. I've also heard that seltzer, particularly with quinine helps and I often have a seltzer before bedtime.

I got a lot of leg cramps when I was pregnant. My doctor then said to eat two bananas per day to help ease them.

The product I recommended is calcium magnesium in an easily absorbed preparation.
As stated above Tonic Is made with quinine and also helps cramps.

One caution on Magnesium, tho it is good to get enough, excessive intake can cause the runs.
