Lincoln should be quite nice then and if it's not peak a trip north to the Umbagog area should be around peak. On our way back we saw partial and spotty color on route 3 from Belfast. Maine to Augusta. I-95 from Augusta to the NH border was spotty, 495 from NH to the Mass pike was spotty and a bit muted and even less so on the Mass pike to Sturbridge. 84 from there to home was also spotty and muted, but the bright sun made it difficult to get a good look. I'll check the mountain from the deck in the morning and see how that looks. Monday, I'll be going to Great Barrington and see what that's like.

Monday I went north on route 7 thru Sheffield and into Great Barrington and saw some areas of nice color. A friend of mine stopped in last night on his way home from working in Lenox, MA. He said there was little color there and things were more colorful here. Today I drove from East Canaan to North Canaan and there was some color in patches. Yesterday I went south on route 44 and there were some areas of good color southwest of Norfork and almost to Winsted. It has been foggy mornings here this week or I would try taking a few pictures of the foliage.

I'm in the 6th year of a leaf-turning thread on another forum. It has gone into is ther a time when you can see leaf color, fireflies, and Christmas lights.

That forum closes every thread after a year, or something, except for the goofy game ones that go on and on, so, a new leaf thread starts and all the old ones get linked to.

This time last year, all our trees were stressed and the leaves were dead or gone. It was being said that we'd have to wait "until next Spring" to see if the trees had died or just gone into self-preservation.

        It was the latter.

Yeah, the pics I've seen from friends look pretty peak-ish already. We can't get up there until the 18th and I think we'll have missed the best.
