Fans who want to honor Lou Reed, who passed away last month, can attend a public memorial tomorrow afternoon. The gathering will take place at the Paul Milstein Pool and Terrace at Lincoln Center on November 14 from 1 to 4pm. According to the musician's Facebook page, which announced the event, there will be "no speeches. No live performances, just Lou’s voice, guitar music & songs—playing the recordings selected by his family and friends.”

I went to this, and it was really special. Lou Reed's music, blasting loud, clear and beautiful out into the Plaza at Lincoln Center. Definitely not something I would ever have imagined. Yoko Ono didn't show up, but she sent flowers, and Laurie Anderson (Lou's widow), gave them out to the crowd. Some days I really love my city.
