  • The Oscar Nominations are in

There were few surprises this morning as the 86th Academy Awards nominations were announced by Chris Hemsworth and Cheryl Boone Isaacs. As expected, the films 12 Years a Slave and American Hustle had a major presence with nominations in the acting, directing and Best Picture categories, though if we were to choose one positive revelation it was Philomena also being named among the nine Best Picture contenders.

I've only seen a couple of the nominees. I did much better last year. But at least I've seen "American Hustle".

I saw American Hustle and while I liked it somewhat, to me it's not Best Picture material.
