  • No More Robocalls

Saw this on another board and thought I would share. I was able to sign up my Optimum/Cablevision land line but not my verizon wireless

    http://www.nomorobo.com

Nomorobo blocks annoying robocallers and telemarketers from reaching your phone.

And best of all - it's free!

Welcome to Nomorobo. The best way to stop robocalls.

    How do I use Nomorobo?
To use Nomorobo, just complete a simple, one-time setup on each of your phone lines.

    How does Nomorobo work?
By using simultaneous ringing, when someone calls your phone, Nomorobo is able to instantly screen the call for you . If it's a robocaller, Nomorobo answers and immediately hangs up. The only thing that you'll hear is a single ring on your phone.

Ok, I've enabled and verified Nomorobo on my phone. What now?
Just use your phone like normal. The only thing that you should do is to wait for the second ring to answer the phone (Nomorobo needs the first ring to detect robocallers). If you only hear one ring and then it stops, you know a robocaller was just blocked. If the phone continues ringing, you should answer it.

Will this block my doctor's office, prescription reminders, school closings, weather advisories, etc.?
No. The only numbers that are blocked are reported, illegal robocallers.

Hey! A robocaller still called me!
Occasionally a robocaller or a telemarketer will slip through. Just like spam, they keep changing their tactics and Nomorobo keeps adapting. If you do get a robocall, please report it here.

What about political and charity calls?
Nomorobo isn't blocking those calls yet.

    I have more questions!
If you have any other questions, comments, or suggestions, please send an email to support@nomorobo.com. Thanks!

Oh, I thought this was going to be about Wastegate.

The only thing that stopped their calls, ones generating from their selling their lists, was dropping our landline.

The No Call lists had no effect.

      LOL, it could be!

This is a step beyond DNC list - it actually detects the robocalls, they ring once on your phone and then are directed to the robocall phone number (that you add to your account) - kinda cool - I will report back how it works, just signed up today.

No more calls from Interval or RCI trying to get you to "update" your searches. Or letting you know you have a match (that's done by robo too, then transferred to a live agent when a human answers, at least that's how it works at RCI). This will all be fine with me, I'm signing up now. Thanks, Pat!

No searches, no annoying update calls.

Ok, signing up is not as easy as I'd hoped, will try when I have more time. Looks legit. Imperfect, but better than DNC, for sure. Maybe it will also take care of those pesky snow day calls at 5 am. And the robocalls from CVS... fingers crossed.

            Thanks for posting, Pat!!!

I'm using the silent ringtone app on telemarketers. The problem is they change numbers so often. The nomorobo might be a good dealio. Let me know how it works for you.

It did take a few moments to add it - I had to log into my Optimum Voice Account (I did not know I had one ) and select some kind of option that I did not know I had :roll eyes: and add the Robocall 888 number. Others have reported it takes a bit more to reconfigure your answering choice with some carriers.

What is silent ringtone app? Do you use the iPhone "Do Not Disturb" feature???

The problem may be similar to that on the internet. They may block people you want to hear from-and strangely enough that seems to be a problem with Optimum internet service. I got II to stop with the robocalls by threatening to file a complaint with the FCC. I have number blocking with my home phone and that has stopped some other calls. I don't think the phone even rang once today.

                    As a follow up.
I got two calls this morning that rang once and then went to the other number.

                    I googled the numbers.

The first one showed on caller ID as TEXACO - it was a robocall from Macy's telling you that there was a partial shipment of an order - since i was notified by email already - there was no need for this call.
The second number showed on caller ID as 800 Service - and was reported as one of those fishing for your CC number by promising to reduce your current interest rate….typical boiler plate operation.

                    So far, so good.

sounds like it doesn't know it is a robocall, like from your school on a snow day, unless someone has erroneously reported that number to nomorobo.com and then nomorobo.com erroneously added it to their 'list.'
