DH and I traveled to CT to see a concert last night (Bob Seger/Jay Geils - what a great show!). The crowd was overwhelmingly people in their 50's and 60's. I thought it funny that every person was ID'd at the beer and wine bars. First I thought that the woman was kidding me when she asked to see my ID. I said "really?" but she assured me that every person gets ID'd. She didn't scan the ID, just looked at it to make sure I was over 21.
Then, DH went to get me another wine and get a beer for himself. There were 2 different bars, so he got the wine first, then stood on the (very long) beer line. He ordered and was told the he could not order a beer while he had a wine in his hand. Again - really? Yes, it was the law in CT; apparently you can only hold one drink at a time. DH said the people on the line behind him did not think this was strange and verified this is the law.
So he brought the wine to me, and went back to the line to get his beer. The woman did let him cut to the front of the line since he waited so long the first time.
We thought this was a crazy rule, but I am thinking there is some rationale behind it?
