  • Mom spends beach vacation assuming all household duties in close proximity to ocean

NAGS HEAD, NC—Continuously doing laundry, cooking, or vacuuming in her family’s rented beach cottage this week, area mom Catherine Yardley has spent a much-needed vacation performing all her usual household chores while in closer proximity to the ocean, sources confirmed. “Isn’t it nice to just get away for a while and relax by the water?” Yardley said as she wiped down the kitchen counter and then took out the garbage, tasks she would normally perform at a distance of 200 miles from the beach instead of 50 feet. “I just love that I can be scrubbing the bathroom, look out the window, and see the tide coming in. We should do this every year!” At press time, Yardley was reportedly busy preparing a meal identical to what she would have made back home, except that she planned to serve it on paper plates.

I saw this and it hit close to home. When i took my daughter, three kids, and her in-laws to Orlando, I never left the resort, baby sat and cooked the entire time. i thought that 75 days of company in Florida was a lot, but i am getting even more in Wisconsin.

I think this is why a lot of Mom's like cruising.
She needs to come hang out here and learn all the tricks of getting away.

As a mom who does cook while TSing....I actually don't mind it. I like living in a place that has just what I need and no clutter around. But, I can tell ya there is no way in heck that I would be pulling out a vacuum, unless of course a box of cheerios made its way to the kitchen floor.

As for cruising....LOVE IT, LOVE IT, LOVE IT. The first time the waiter poured ketchup on my kids plate and then proceeded to cut her steak, I was hooked. But, I the number one reason why I love cruising is the disconnect. Cell phones are off, laptops are gone. It is truly the only vacation that I walk away from everything. So we cruise once per year. Last cruise, our last day was in Key West and it actually bothered me that half the ship (including my dh) had their face in their phones. I refused to take mine out of the safe.
