Free international texting and voice with What's App - how could I not have known?!!!

OMG -- DS has been trying to get me to use What's App for ages and I thought it sounded like Snapchat or some other youngpeople thing. But he is in Europe so I finally downloaded it, and it's EASY and it WORKS GREAT!! We can chat via text, send pics, and TALK. So I guess kind of like Skype for the talking part, but I've never skyped, and this is on my phone, and I'm so happy!!!

ps: And I have an iPhone and he doesn't, and that doesn't matter, either.

We use Viber to talk to our friends in Nepal. I'm trying to get our Canadian friends to look into it!

I can't believe I knew about something before you! Actually it was younger dd and dh who told me about WhatsApp and I installed it when dd went to Thailand. We've used it for texting when she was in Canada and now that she's in Europe. I did only find out recently that you can also use for phone calls.

Lol, I found out very early yesterday morning when DS was in emergency need of funds because his debit card stopped working

He couldn't call the bank, but he could call me on WhatsApp.

For a long time, Whatsapp is only available for iphone and perhaps blackberry. DH just found out before his trip to Israel last month that now it's also available for android.
Most of the Chinese these days use wechat. It has over 500 M users! I really like it. It's basically facebook, skype, text, and twitter all in one. Lately I've found even lots of Americans start to use it as well.
