  • We decided to go back to Mr Coffee

This last winter we were snow-birding for about 7 weeks. All of the resorts we visited had the old Mr Coffee. Every morning we would brew a pot with Folgers Classic. The aroma of the brewing coffee is one of the things I miss about Mr Coffee versus Keurig. The fantastic taste of Folgers Classic is something I have enjoyed for about 40 years. Today we decided we are switching back to waking up with the aroma of coffee and the very much liked Folgers Classic.

After about a year we are saying Good Bye Keurig, I won't miss you at all.

I have very hard water here from a well. Was killing Cuisanarts every 18 months even with regular cleanings. I'm back to a Melitta drip and a tea kettle. How's that for retro?

I don't think they still sell the brand of coffee I loved that was canned and pre-ground. Brown Gold. Only one supermarket in this area carried it and I'm very rarely in there. Next time I'll take a look.

I can drink Folgers and really like their Black Silk when I can't grind my own Trader Joe's French Roast.

I'm now using a single serving drip. I like to refer to it as a "pour over".

        LOL

I will learn to say it that way too. There is a technique to doing it well.

It did take some effort to find the glass carafe Melitta although their paper filters have always been everywhere.

Hard water here too, but I can usually get 2-3 years out of a Proctor-Silex.

Really? They sell the glass carafe Melitta all over the place here. All the coffee places, plus the kitchen supply store. Since I'm the only one who drinks coffee in the morning I didn't need something that made a full pot, just the single serving cone. So much easier to clean up also.

I love my reverse osmosis water system. Really improves the water that goes into the coffee (DW) or tea (me) maker.

That is a great system, Takes the fluoride out.

I like my coffe on the colder side. The Keurig brews hot and I have to wait. I just told my wife yesterday I want to bring up the Cuisinart with Bur grinder back up. There is no better way to wake up to the beans being ground fresh and coffee brewed.

Us too. I really can't taste the difference though. We have deep well water that is tapped into an underground river that flows from the Cascade Mountains. Supposedly, our water is magical, especially when combined with special ingredients.
