  • How did I end up with TSA Pre-check status?

The last couple of trips we've been cleared for pre-check, but I honestly have no idea what I did to get that. Any ideas?

sssshhhh I get it all the time and have not figured it out. I know for a while United was giving out pre-check if you used their credit card and I think they may be doing it again. Does not explain my Jet Blue TSA pre-check gimmes.

Just thank the universe and smile.

We used to get it most of the time on a random basis. We now have Global Entry and supposedly will always get it. From what I've read the random assignment is ending. You can Google to find out who might be still getting it.

Frank sent them a list of our supermods and told them to give them all super status.

            A winning answer!!

I was wondering if it might have something to do with the fact that I went through an FBI background check in August. I wish I'd known it would be done at a place that also handles Global Entry, but have been too lazy to go back.

well, I guess I'd like to know because it would help with planning. I paid an extra $10 pp for "expedited security line," but we didn't need it. Not to mention that the fast lane was slower than the regular one (I guess that NYC for you, especially on a holiday/break). And.... I could have worn more complicated footwear, and maybe a belt AND we all got it. Same thing happened last time. Both JB, though, now that I think about it.

We just flew Newark to Chicago, then Chicago to Des Moines, then Des Moines to home. We had TSA Pre-Check for both Newark legs, but not the Chicago to Des Moines leg, so we thought it might have something to do with us flying to or from our home airport.

Also, we were traveling with our teenager. She often gets TSA Pre-Check.

When we flew out of LaGuardia last year with four family members, two got TSA Pre-Check and two didn't. Go figure.

If the Chicago -Des Moines was just a change of planes, you wouldn't get pre-check because you are not going thru security. I get pre-check just about every time I fly except if I'm flying one way or it's a last minute change.

Just checked in for our flight tomorrow and we both got TSA pre check. Now hopefully they will have a pre check line open! We are going to Orlando on our spring break and I am expecting tons of kids on the flight.

We only got it once a few years ago.

It was extremely busy at LAX during our trip in March and also coming home from Maui. We even got an alert notice to checkin early because of the very long lines while the special line was completely empty. It doesn't make sense!

I wish I could figure it out because my wife gets Pre Check every time we fly and I am stripping and being felt up by the TSA.

Nope, we were going around Illinois for a few days. Not just a transfer.

Maybe the TSA agents think you're cute.
