  • Ladie's restroom - what bugs you?

I have a big gripe about the public ladies restrooms. Why can't they all have a hook on the door or the wall to hang your bag? I HATE putting it down on the floor. GROSS! Also, I am always paranoid that someone can grab it from under the door. Even in the handicap stalls, there is sometimes no where to put a purse. I was also in one today, and the handicap stall did not have grab bars. Strange, especially since it was primarly a medical building.

I don't understand why so many ladies rooms are filthy, out of toilet paper, paper on the floor, unflushed toilets and urine on the seats. Need I continue? I really hate to use them but when you gotta go.......
Sometimes I really wonder what some of these ladies' bathrooms look like in their own homes!

The towels always seem to be way across the room from the sinks and you have to drip all over to get to them.

I agree with all of the above, and I'd like to add that the size of the place, (mall, restaurant, airport, etc. ), should DIRECTLY affect the number of ladies stalls....... Why is there ALWAYS a line at the ladies room??

          Pet Peave

My pet peave about restrooms, and it has been for years, is paper towel dispensers that are too high. Water drips down your arms when getting the towels out. I'm short, but I sometimes wonder who puts them up so high. Must be 8 feet tall.

            I agree!

I love going on vacation but I absolutely loathe having to use public toilets. I always wonder if people make the same mess at home as they do in public in the stalls. I've been trying to make a habit of taking paper towels BEFORE I wash my hands so I have it handy to dry them right away. I hate those hand dryers. Your hands never feel as dry as using paper. If there is no paper I'll grab toilet paper.

East Coast - Interstate Rest Room - Simply Disgusting

              What I hate most:
Is the lemon smell from the air machines
They remind me of the bathrooms along
              The New JerseyTurnpike

We just returned from a 3,000 mile month long trip
We found the Rest Area Restrooms along Interstates
              I-95, I-75, I-85, & I-81
To be Disgusting and an Embarrassment to the States of
Virginia, North and South Carolina, Georgia and Florida!

With summer temps along the east coast ranging from
90 to over 100 degress the rest area restrooms did not
have any air conditioning nor fans in them - most of
the restroom were filthy and offensively Dirty
and did not have Toilet Paper or Paper Towels

At one rest stop in SC a lady was handing out
her own tissues to the ladies in line..

From now on when I leave a timeshare or hotel
I plan to take a roll or two of toilet tissue and
place it in the rest area rest rooms...

Plus I plan to carry a paper towel or two in - to place
my bag on (do not place directly on floor) if no hooks

This was the first time I seen soda machines behind bars!
You had to place your hands between the bars to put
your money in and get your soda out..

                Public restrooms are built by...............

                men.

These are the same people who put washers and dryers out in the garage.

and built side by side refrigerators that can't hold a sheetcake or a pizza box I hate my refrigerator at LEAST 3 times a year when we do larger parties.

The reason that there are no hooks on the doors ( so I remember ) is that the thieves of the taller variety would take the handbags off the hooks over the top of the stall doors. Dosen't explain why a clip type hook couldn't be installed.

Personal peeve is the air blower hand dryer. How long are you supposed to stand there rubbing your hands until they dry?

I don't know if I should post on this thread or not (gender issue). But, today I was in one of the bathrooms of a new courthouse in Houston. There were 4 of us men who had taken care of business and had washed our hands (yes, we men do do that occasionally).

ONE AIR BLOWER HAND DRYER!! It was quite the scene with all of us waiting for the guy ahead of us to dry his hands. Of course, water was dripping all over the floor, making a mess and by the time I finally reached the stupid blower, my hands were almost air dry without the blower.

The funniest thing was that there was a huge trash can right by the blower but no paper towel or other paper dispenser. Why do you need the trash can if you don't have the paper?

Ok, I'll go back quietly to my corner and leave you ladies to this thread.

I agree about the hook for a purse. What really bugs me, however, is when there is no garbage can close to the exiting door. I do not like to wash and dry my hands, only to have to touch the door handle on the way out (who knows if the person before you washed?). I like to open the door with the towel and then be able to drop it in the trash on the way out. Don't get me started on restrooms that only have hand blowers!

I think my biggest (and grossest) pet peeve is when there is no garbage can inside the stall. And usually the garbage can outside the stall has no lid. There is nothing worse than having to carry feminine hygiene products out of the stall in order to dispose of them, especially if there are others to witness it.

                          Broken stall latches

Although many of the things mentioned above bother me too, I don't think anyone has mentioned broken (or incorrectly installed) latches on the stall door.

Sometimes one gets the latch to work, only to have someone else slam a nearby stall door causing the door to one's stall to swing open.

I do like it when the purse hooks are at a level that theives cannot easily reach.

                            Doors that swing in.

Wide doors on tiny stalls that open inward. Do I really need to nearly stand on top of or alongside the toilet to get fully in so I can close the door?

I also wonder why the newer refrigerators with the bottom freezer are so much more expensive. They are the answer to so many problems, so they price them higher. You know it costs no more money to make them.
