Oracle, I am so sorry to read this, I must have missed it. I lost my sweet Silver Monday. I chose to let her go as she went from a healthy cat one day to all bones with no mass the next day. The vet said I made the right choice and I felt better as she went in my arms peacefully. shaggy

Thanks Shaggy and everyone else who responded with kind words. Right now we are watching our 10 year old male cat with chronic kidney failure. The kidneys are not keeping the proteins in the the blood, so he is losing weight.
We tried a perscription diet from the Vet which turned out to be a disaster, he just did not like the food and was losing more weight from lack of eating rather than the kidney disease. He has been raised on dry food and we even tried the perscription canned food, but he just was not eating enough. While he has a good appetite, we are feeding him Purina Senior dry cat food which he eats very well and is Ok for the quality of the protein according to the Vet.

The last cat we lost was one we had only a few years-tho he was 13. We put him to sleep once it became really uncomfortable for him (he had cancer) and it was a very emotional time. Our other boy is now 15 and a concern, tho he didn't show any problems with the recent bloodwork. He's lost about 5 pounds in less than 2 years. We've had him since he was a kitten and he really is a part of the family.
