It seems so many of us are loosing our precious pets but I wasn't expecting this one. Silver is the sweetest cat I've ever had. Sat night I picked her up and knew immediatly something was wrong. All I could feel was bones. She didn't act sick and she had so much hair that I didn't notice the weight lost. I had to choose between giving her IV"s and medicine and watching her go down hill further. The vet said she was having trouble breathing already and had no muscle mass. I didn't want her in pain so I made the choice to let me take the pain of loosing her. She died in my arms ( Kelli couldn't watch) I can honestly say she had a wonderful life, she was spoiled rotten and was never sick and loved to be held and slept with Kelli and once she got used to Monkey she stayed with her. I will miss her terribly. Shaggy

If you change the way you look at things, the things you look at change.
BTW, I'm still keeping track of how many times you annoy me.

Oh, I am so sorry to hear this! My condolences on your loss!
I lost my beloved Graycat last January, and I still miss him.
I saw this poem about losing a pet -- it's about dogs, but it applies to cats, too. (Just replace "dogs" with "cats" and "barking at the door" with "scratching at the door.")
They will not go quietly,
the dogs who've shared our lives.
In subtle ways they let us know
their spirit still survives.
Our habits still make us think
we hear a barking at the door.
Or step back when we drop
a tasty morsel on the floor.
Our feet will still go round the place
the food dish used to be,
And, sometimes, coming home at night,
we miss them terribly.
And although time may bring new friends
and a new food dish to fill,
That one place in our hearts
belongs to them...
and always will.

So sorry to hear about your loss, but you did the right thing. We had an Old English Sheep Dog that we had to let go and it was hard, but he was in so much pain, that it was what had to be done.

Shaggy,
Oh, I have been where you are and want you to know that you made the very best decision for Silver. Many years ago I opted to give my beloved Dixie (Beagle) IVs for her failing kidneys. It was okay for a very short while, but the kidney failure won out.
They count on us to protect and care for them. They can't intellectualize pain as we do, so, we do the kindest and most loving thing for them.
You were blessed to have her and she was blessed to have you.
You gave her a great life and a gentle passing.
Thinking of you,
Beags and the Beagles
