And I always thought it was a combination of too much food and too little exercise that was the main cause of obesity. This article reads more like another "It's not my fault I'm fat" excuse.
I doubt I have that problem. I eat a lot of Garlic and take a table spoon a day of apple cidar vinagar. I don't think those micro what ever they are want to live in my belly.
My problem is I like to eat

I was watching an interesting program on PBS last weekend on digestive health. The speaker said that more people over 50 have to little stomach acid rather than to much. Reflux and indigestion can be caused by either to much or to little, a fact that the antacid industry fails to advertize.
I am testing out this possibility (that I have to little rather than to much) taking apple cidar vinager before meals. I have upped my fiber and am eating sugar free yogert. I will be adding a probiotic and enzyme supplement when I get to the health food store to look around.

Frank, you are doing OK with your Apple Cider vinegar and garlic. What is so strange to me is that so many people are overweight here but not in Europe. I don't think they exercise more than we do here. It must be that fast food diet that people eat out because they are in a hurry or all the packaged food on the grocery shelves? Just read the ingredients and you wouldn't eat it.
Where are the "Weight Watchers" here? How are they doing? My girlfriend was taking this diet and I tasted it once. Pretty awful so it is hard to stay on that diet for long. Every time she stops, she puts more weight on than before. It's a scam but the education is good but not the packaged food.

We certainly have our share of overweight people in the UK, but I think you are right to think that the numbers affected and the level of obesity is far greater in the US than in the UK and Europe.
My perception as a visitor is that the car has taken over from legs for many in the US. Fast food, or possibly more accurately the huge, basically free, soft drinks that accompany them, is a major factor too. In the UK a typical soft drink with fast food would be around 10 fluid ounces - and no free refills. Those are basically liquid sugar. Combine with a sedentary lifestyle and it's a deadly combination.
Does sugar free and/or lite yogurt still have active yogurt cultures including L Acidophlus?
I assume they do, otherwise they could not advertise that it is a life culture but read the warning here about artificial sweeteners. It is safer not to consume them at all.
All our animals loved yogurt so we have always bought the plain yogurt for them and still do for our last cat. For myself, I mix it with frozen blueberries from Trader Joe's and it is more than sweet enough. You can also put fresh fruit in as it makes the yogurt taste better too. I don't like it unless it is mixed with the berries. When you do this for a while, you will spit out the artificial junk you buy from the store. Try it with the frozen berries!
Blueberries are good for slowing the aging process too.
Did anyone read the book, What they don't want you to Know?(I think thats the name)
In the book they made the same statement regarding Americans and Euopeans. They claim our food has chemicals that cause us to get fat. Ever taste the differance in meats here from other countrys. I think this guy is correct and the FDA knows about it and is in on it.
That's why we buy our meat from New Zealand when we cook at home. The taste is better but we still eat American beef when we eat out and try to enjoy a good steak with all the other fattening stuff.
Life is for living and to enjoy as much as we can but taking care of our health and avoid the fast food in general, will make it a lot better in the later years. I don't know how people even like eating that junk? Yes, it is cheap and convenient but that's all!
There was talk about banning the import of American beef into Europe. I believe it stemmed from the fact that US cattle are fed with steroids to increase bulk and those steroids are banned from animal feed in Europe.

I heard this to. That is one reason why we get bulky we are taking in the steroids that the cows eat. The same goes with Milk, Eggs and chickens we eat. Even our fruit has some kind of harmful chemical.

I haven't read the book. However, if true, that is pretty scary..........

If you change the way you look at things, the things you look at change.
BTW, I'm still keeping track of how many times you annoy me.

Much of what Kevin Truduo said sounded like fact and sounded real. I had gotten 3/4 of the way done with the book and I never finished it. I started feeling that he kept referencing back to his website. I did not like about the book and I just put it down..
