  • Prescription Meds in Canada

We are going to Birch Bay WA on Friday. Some of my husband's prescriptions are pretty expensive. I'm wondering if there would be a place in Victoria or Vancouver to get them cheaper Or is that even legal? Any help is appreciated.

You'll need prescriptions for the meds from his doctor to purchase them in Canada.

In Nevada there is a state partnership with several Canadian Pharmacies, which have been inspected and approved by our Pharmacy board. We can mail order from them. US Customs was occasionally snatching an order, as a way of supporting US Pharmacy Industry, but has stopped doing so (when this happened the meds were replaced free of charge, but it was a hassle).

Sorry folks for being out of the loop. My wife and opened a new business last year that seems to just control our lives. I am still vacationing but just have not had any time to be here at all, my timeshares are all going to waste!! Plus had some health problems and life things so I apologize for just being neglectful... I do care, just priorities have been elsewhere.

I do have some feedback here. Fern is right, there was some news on this a month ago, about ordering straight just mail order from Canada. The US Post Office was grabbing some orders but changed their policies. A really informative article is found at http://www.suddenlysenior.com/canadiandrugstores.html regarding the costs difference and the new change to US customs and prescription drugs.

If you think it is worth it, I beleive that you can get a 2 month supply and go across the border, no questions asked. If you need a Canadian doctors script, that makes it a little harder. I know of many "after hours clinics" where they charge something liike $100 cash for the appointment but then will write you a prescription. I saw it done one day - wondered why these old people came to Canada and forgot all their prescriptions but had American ones. Mail order might be easier though maybe a little costlier - I think the article was pretty clear.

All drugstores are about the same cost for the drugs - some just charge a higher fee to dispense. Our Walmarts have drugstores, I would likely go there if I was visiting from the States.

        Regards,

        T

          Pharmacychecker.com

Website for Consumer Reports advises using the above website to check the cost of drugs and their availability. It is quite helpful and completely eye opening. We use it to order our presciption drugs. The list also shows what online pharmacies have brick and mortor pharmacies and the actual locations.
