You know, cats are really just not a problem. I could understand it more if it were a dog.

With cats you can still travel and just have someone check in on them maybe twice a week, to make sure the food bowl and water is filled and clean the litter box. It isn't like they have to be let out multiple times a day or anything.

And two cats are no more work than one cat.

That is what I meant about if you save a life it belongs to you. It is fate.

Sorry, you just have to keep Cougar.

I guess Cougar is special to me because he should have died that second day I had him but he didn't. I forget where I read once, that you are responsible for the ones you save.

If I can't keep him after all this I will find him the very best home possible.
Yes, your Vet owes you an apology and I still hope you will keep him but it is a big responsibility for many years. Two of our rescued cats stayed with us for over 17 years. We still have Taffy and we really love that cat. He often sleeps stretched out next to the keyboard right in front of me or sits in front of my screen so I can't see what I am reading or typing and he will only go to bed when I go to bed. They are a lot of company. Our Siamese cat did the same thing too. It's funny but they don't do this with my husband and he loves them just as much. I wonder if they are protective of me because I rescued them? However, we bought the Siamese and he did the same thing.
