My DH loves Kit Kats and I like the very dark Milky Way so we have both and one big variety bag too which we will start with. We never know how many kids will come as it varies so much from year to year.

We seem to have many tiny kids around 6 PM and then much older kids around 8 to 9 PM. They are too old to do this but we give them candy anyway or some change when we run out and they take it and are polite. I think that they like showing off their costumes and are on their way home from somewhere.

I enjoy Halloween but enjoyed it more when we had our little dog. All the kids just loved her as she would be at the door greeting them.

      Instead of candy

For a few years I gave out decorative pencils. Bought them in bulk and then tied 3 together with curling ribbon. The younger kids loved them - the older kids were bummed. Another couple of years I gave out tiny beanie baby type toys - but that got expensive. I think word got out that there was good stuff at our house. It also took a while for the kids to select their toy.

It's easier to buy bags of candy, so that what I've been doing the last few years. Getting lazy in my middle years.

No trick or treaters here....used to be our block/area was very popular but now all the people with kids are like us - with youngadults or else they moved away.... in fact as I write this I realize that out of 25-30 houses on our 'circle' only the Mayor and the people next door to him have kids...boy, a lot has changed in 15 years!

You’re all welcome to come over. Just wear your costumes and fly over on those Halloween brooms, that way you can save some airfare.

I am not passing that out to the kids.

Josie is really seaming to enjoy answering the door, so that makes it all worth while.
Even thought I think I seen kids twice.

I'm surprised you haven't seen grown-ups twice. Frank will be there in a few hours.

We gave out Raisinettes (I love them), Nestle Crunch (don't love them), and candy bracelets that were a last minute purchase at Walgreens. The bracelets were a big hit, but I had trouble choosing them over the pack of little gummy hamburgers and hot dogs on buns where each piece is a separate gummy. So adorable, so unappealing to eat! The perfect combo! But the candy bracelets are in that category, too.

We live on a long street that has a park running down the middle, so there are lots of houses but less traffic. We get DOZENS of kids--you see kids trundling along on foot and the parents are following in the minivans with the doors open.
This year some grownup friends came by to marvel at how many kids we got.

My kids got about 15 pounds of candy. Now my 12yo has squirreled hers away somewhere to attract bugs....ay yi yi. I ended up with a huge bowl of rejected candy (rejected by the kids because they don't like those kinds)...I can tell you those little bags of pretzels were complete dogs around here. I told the kids they would be seeing them for months to come in their lunches.
