  • Our football team one first round playoff yesterday

How exciting for our 11 to 13 year old boys!

Not only to make the playoffs but to soundly beat their downstate rivals, The Bronx River Bulldogs, yesterday!

This team has undergone a complete metamorphisis from the lowly 1 and 9 record in 2005.

My only worry now is the upstate traveling that is coming our way... We are scheduled to play the winner of the western NY game next week. Probably near Rome, NY which is nearly 4 hours north and west.

The winner of that one gets to drive 7 hours to the lovely city of Rochester the weekend after Thanksgiving.

    Can you say COLD?

Come on, will you really mind the travel/cold if they are doing that well?? Nevermind, don't answer that.

OK. Well NOT OK. The team we are playing this weekend is 10th Ward a Watertown based team that is 5 hours north and west of us. Our game is scheduled for 11AM on Saturday. That means traveling up Friday and a hotel stay.

That is patently unfair to our team! Not to mention a hardship on some families.

Why can't the powers that be get us a field in Albany so that BOTH teams travel 2.5 hours?

Our league president is querying the decision. Keep tuned.
