  • What I really want for Christmas is...

one cord that will charge everything: my cell phone, DH's cell phone, DD's cell phone, my pda, DHs pda, digital camera, video camera; and download data from said camera and video camera-- oh, and DD's glucose meter, too. That way I can throw out the tangle of wires and cords that I have amassed from digital equipment past and present, mixed in with countless sets of cheapie, throwaway airplane earphones, that never seems to contain the one that I need. Santa, if that's too much to ask, you can just give me a gift card to Radio Shack, because that's where I always end up when I can't find the one cord that I need.

You do know that at Radio Shack you can get one charger that will handle most of the items you listed? You need one the correct adapter for each unit, but it's only one cord.

What I really want for Christmas is...

The cancer to be ousted from the bodies of my co-worker, my cousin, and my daughter's friend (2 leukemia and 1 breast).

Okay, I'd give up my wish for that.

I would like one day of no crisis, no stress, no problems, and a nice warm bed to sleep the whole day away...

Isn't that why we have timeshares? They come with 7 of those days!

Arlene, I'm sorry if I seemed to trivialize your wish. You started a lighthearted thread, and I didn't mean to put a damper on it.

My second wish is to finally get a bump on my next trip.

Jackie, it must be so hard for you to get into the holiday spirit this year when your friends and family are suffering so. My heart goes out to them and you! I'm glad you shared your wish, because it teaches us not to take things like health for granted. I hope their health is restored soon.

As far as the thread goes, I really started it as a rant because I couldn't find the cord to download my photos that I need to make my Christmas cards, but it has turned into what everyone is wishing for, which is a much more interesting thread.

I hope and pray our middle daughter, who lives in Key West, finds a job soon. She just got laid off due to a contract change and is now looking for something. She was the company's HazMat officer and the new contractor doesn't have that in their contract, so now she is applying for unemployment and passing out resumes. This is the second year that tragedy has hit her. Last year she was wiped out by the two storm surges that hit Key West. She lost just about everything after Wilma and had to start all over. She was one of the lucky ones though...she had her family to load her down with all sorts of new appliances and things she needed replaced. Now she needs a job to pay the rent and utilities and car payments...and you know..those sorts of things.
