DD told us Sunday evening that she and her BF wanted to go to Puerto Rico on vacation. She has lots of Marriott points and there is a Marriott there (somewhere). DH & I were there in '98 on a mission trip and we did get to see some of PR, but were not overly impressed. We were in the Aerocibo area, but did spend a day in San Juan sight seeing. The fort was interesting and old San Juan, but other than that, I don't think I would go back. But maybe some of you have been and saw things that we didn't and have a different perspective.....any advice, suggestions? TIA.

I was at PR recently last year. I got stuck over night there. I was put in an ocean front Marriott not to far from the air port. I loved it. There were hammocks on the beach. I was in PR with my wife some 15 years ago. I liked it then but It looks cleaner and better now.Timeshareforums Shirts and Mugs on sale now! http://www.cafepress.com/ts4ms

Speaking of day trips, You can go to St Croix, St Thomas, St Johns which tops them all and even Jamaica from PR.Timeshareforums Shirts and Mugs on sale now! http://www.cafepress.com/ts4ms

DH and I stayed in the Dorado Beach area on our honeymoon, almost 13 years ago. It was so beautiful-- our room opened right onto the beach-- we felt like we were the only people there. We always said we'd go back, but never have, and now the lovely hotel we stayed at is closed. DH has stayed in some of the San Juan hotels (in the city) for business and has not been impressed. But you can't beat the beach...~Arlene

I went there with Dear Old Dad stayed at the Hilton Caribe. That was my first exposure to casino blackjack. Very laid back and a lot of fun.
We went to PR on our honeymoon and again when DS was 4 or 5 years old.
Club Cala doesn't get favorable reviews but we liked our condo there and Loved the beach.
The rainforest is a great trip as are Vieques and the caves.
well worth a visit or 3.
I'd go back in a heartbeat.Lawren

My wife and I traded into ESJ Towers a couple of Thanksgivings ago through DAE, an OK resort but a wonderful location. Great beach and very convenient to Old San Juan. We also rented a car and did a couple of day trips to the rain forest and to Ponce. Also the Bacardi rum factory tour was interesting.
