My family and I will be in Kauai staying at Pono Kai. We arrive in the morning and will check in before noon. We will grab a quick lunch and then look for fireworks. Fireworks are huge in the Islands of Hawaii for New Year's and Chinese New Year.

Thanks to NBC's NFL flex scheduling I will have to find a TV near by so I can watch the Green Bay Packers vs the Pooh Bears.
I think that getting married on holidays is becoming more popular. Not only are the dates easier to book, but I think they may be given a break on the cost.

The good thing about getting married on a holiday, is that there is always something going on on your anniversary. My DH's birthday is July 4th, and there are always parties to go to, fireworks, etc., it's a lot of fun. I on the other hand was born in late January. I have nothing but cold, snow, and ice to look forward to......

Anyway, have a great New Year, and I hope that you find that TV.

Warm weather and fireworks, I could live with that.

We have a tradition, We eat and drink. But what we make to eat we look forward to 2 to 3 times a year. We make this for the Super bowl and for New Years and sometimes for the World Series. Now you ask what we make. Our normal menu is Fried Pizza and Fried Ham Calzones. Yes I said Fried Pizza. We take small amounts of Pizza dough and put sauce on it and top it with Mozzarella and grated cheese and fry it. They taste great! This New Years we are just making the Fried Ham Calzones and making a few homemade Pizza pies. The reason is we had the fried Pizza as a surprise 4 weeks a go so my MIL took a vote to see if we should change it a bit for New Years eve. New years day is at my house we are planing on having a Rib Roast.

That sounds like fun, it's nice to have a family tradition. I'm not sure yet, what I'm doing on New Years Day, either.

You'da thought that she would have invited us over for the New Year. I bet that she is just dying to try out her new cook book.

PS.....Maybe next year, I will buy her some Champagne glasses.

We will be spending New Year's in the Berkshires; Jiminy Peak is having some sort of New Year's Eve thing, so if the slopes are open late, my kids will on them. Then it will be a movie and popcorn back at our unit at the Ponds at Foxhollow with friends. Kids have agreed not to stay up all night so they can hit the slopes relatively early on New Year's Day.

Now if they would just get some snow up there!!!

We will probably do what we've done the last few years. Stay home, watch movies and try to stay awake until midnight. Ever since dh and I almost got hit while walking home after dinner and a New Year's celebration we've decided it's not safe out there.

For the last 2 years we have been volunteering at the First Night Celebration in Saratoga Springs NY. A club my wife belongs to mans one of the venues and we do it in 2 hour shifts. We get to attend the rest of the festivities and venues when it's not our shift. They have a lot of good musicians (bands, folk singers, etc) at various venues all over town. We've always had a really good time and there are fireworks at midnight. So we will be doing this again this year.
