I need some information on how to use this new Kitchen Aid mixer I have just bought to make pound cakes. I have made 2 and they both flopped. I know it is not the baking powder because I bought a new can. My $9.99 hand mixer will make a better pound cake than this $300 stand mixer. Paula Dean and Martha Stewart where are you?

Are you over beating the cake mix? I have this mixer and my wife loves it.Timeshareforums Shirts and Mugs on sale now! http://www.cafepress.com/ts4ms

I have used my kitchen aid mixer for 27 years (it is going strong). It is great for beating the eggs and butter to a creamy state. I wonder if you are over mixing the flour into the cream batter. I mix the flour in on low speed and just until it incorporates into the batter. I bake a fair amount and the results using that mixer get rave reviews.
