  • The S word in the South

We are expecting the first big snow here in Winston Salem starting tomorrow. Kelli hates the "s" word as everyone runs to the grocery store and stocks up like they are going to hibernate thru the winter. It hasn't even done a thing yet but school has been cancelled for tomorrow. It was called off before noon and all the cancellations have been crawling on the tv bottom. Now I must confess I did not go to Southern Pines to visit my mom only because I might have trouble getting home.

They are saying we will get 4 to 5 inches of the white stuff followed by ice. Hey, maybe more on Sunday.

I'll laugh if we don't get anything (that's happened b4)

    y'all can't handle snow.

I did have to chuckle about those Left Coasters closing the "5" when they got enough to scrape together a snowball or two as well.

But don't be sending it NORTH! I will gladly take a relatively snowless winter for a change.

Hey Shaggy, looks like you will go ahead of us in season snowfall. We have only had 2" so far this season.

Shaggy, I remember when DH was stationed @ Shaw AFB in Sumter SC in the early 50's and we had 'maybe' an inch of snow! Everything closed. DH went to the base and my 'local' neighbors called to find out who was sick because our car was gone! I said 'sick, no one's sick, Gerry had to report for work on base" The answer came back...'but we have SNOW"...my answer was, 'but this is nothing...we are from up north and this is just a dusting!'. By afternoon it was all melted. But it was a BIG event to all the locals.

Well, as usual, they were wrong. Just a dusting. Going towards mom's where there was supposed to be a dusting there was a lot of wrecks. I hated not going to see her, but better safe than sorry. shaggy

You can certainly have ANYTHING that we might get! Haven't even had an inch yet ~ knock on wood ~ NICE! Pretty unusual winter for us, but I'm likin' it!

I just talked to my sister in Moorhead, Minnesota - my brother celebrated his 80th birthday today - and she said her car wouldn't start - Why?? It was 20 below zero. Brrrr.
