I've read about credit card companies that deliberately delay posting payments to generate fees but have never encountered one until now. My January payment was due on a Sunday (how are they supposed to get mail?) and mailed in plenty of time to reach them on Saturday. They posted the payment two days past the due date and charged me more than $55 in late fees and finance charges.
I have a perfect history of paying on time and always pay my balance in full. I called a week ago and requested that they review the fees. I got the letter today saying they would not waive them, so I called and talked to a supervisor and then her supervisor. No-one was at all interested in being helpful.
I've canceled my card and would warn others to be very careful. I filed a complaint with the BBB and found that this company has 103 complaints relating to billing in addition to more than 30 other types of complaints.
