I spent the money on a Bosch a few months ago. It washes fine - it is quiet. But there are 3 things that drive me nuts.

    1. There is no heating element to dry the dishes after done. Ok for regular plates and glasswear - but all plastics still come out wet and I need to dry myself before I put them away. (my fault - I should have paid more attention when I purchases - assumed all dishwashers came with that).

    2. Large dinner plates are too heavy to put in the front of the lower section rack. (which is one of the places they tell you to put them). The rack falls off the track when I do this - annoying.

    3. My biggest complaint and this is silly - but the silverware cady is in the back of the lower shelf. Every time I just have a spoon to throw in I get annoyed. Lower the entire door, bend down, pull out the rack and put spoon in, push rack back in close door. If it was in the front - a simply half door open and placement into the cady - close door - done!

My biggest complaint about my Bosch is the smell of the "clean" dishes. It's nasty. Icky at best. I think it comes from the "rinse agent" that is required because of lack of heated dry cycle. At some point, energy efficiency is not worth it!!

I finally bought a replacement dishwasher yesterday. I decided on a Maytag. It has a steel tub, not plastic, but after reading this thread I have concerns. I have until Sunday to cancel.

I think I will go out tomorrow and look at more dishwashers.

Regret not doing more research 20 years ago

I did a major house remodel and had included our first dishwasher, a Whirlpool which ended up being well rated by Consumer Reports at the time. While it has performed well, I sure wish I had sought out a quieter unit. Oh well!

You will be fine with your Maytag. The sears repairgirl told me that that is what she owns. shaggy

              Kitchenaide

We have a Kitchenaide that was put in about a year ago when we had the entire house remodeled and everything is Kitchenaide except the microwave which is GE. My wife spent about 8 months going back and fourth between talking to people, researching, checking prices, etc. So far everything has worked great and we are happy with the purchases. She did mess up on one thing in the house and that was the tub in the hall bath. Bought the wrong kind, had it installed and then told me about the mistake. We have made it work for us though I can't wait for the last little bit of our remodel to be done.
When it is completly done I will post the entire story.
