A friend of mine was involved in an accident Friday. She was thrown from the car through the back glass that had been shattered due to the impact. Let me add that she was the passengar in the front seat and has the marks to show that her seat beat was on. To make a long story short she has a broken nose and a few bruised ribs and is in much pain due to the trauma - but is going to be fine. My question - is there compensation from the auto maker / beat belt company due to failure of the seat belt.

I would say yes if you have the right attorney. I don't think the car maker wants to make this public so they may try to settle asap.Timeshareforums Shirts and Mugs on sale now! http://www.cafepress.com/ts4ms

I would definitely talk to a good lawyer about it, especially if the car is fairly new. Seatbelts do give out over time (our 12yo car needs a new one) but you can see that they're not working anymore. For one to fail in an accident when it seemed fine is very unusual. Good luck and a speedy recovery to your friend!
