  • Good deal at Blockbuster

If you are a Blockbuster on line costumer this is a great deal. For $6 at the store you get a card that gets you 1 free item per day for 30 days straight. The trick is you have to get a rental. If you are returning a DVD mailer you are renting so you can get a free Soda, Popcorn or candy.

Edited to add: free item per day must be $1.99 or under. So card can be worth $60.

The store by me closed. There is another one I think, but we just use cable on demand...

How many of you use dvd mailer services?

Netflix here. My sister gives us a gift cert good for a year every Christmas. I haven't paid Netflix a dime personally. I like that you can take your DVD's with you on vacation, watch them, drop them in the mail and new ones are waiting for you when you return.

I have one right in my town, and pass it just about every day. We did belong to Netflix for a while, but I got tired of getting DVDs, that wouldn't play. The quality was so bad, that we canceled!

If you change the way you look at things, the things you look at change.

BTW, I'm still keeping track of how many times you annoy me.

We are astoundingly cheap, and we get our DVDs from the library. I go online and order up whatever we want to see from our library system, and they pull the DVD from whatever branch has it and bring it in to my local library. Then they call me and tell me my DVD is waiting.

I love to see my tax dollars at work!

I do buy some DVDs--mostly old TV series that I like and I know the kids will like, now or later. Our library system is pretty weak on TV DVDs, but good on movies.

I go to our local Movie Gallery (2 mi. away) on Tuesday mornings to get the new releases. DD has Netflix and has to wait for the new ones. Maybe someday I'll try Netflix....Blockbusters is about 5 mi. away from us.

Instead of mailing back my online movies to Blockbuster, I take them back to the local store. They scan them back into the system, and I can exchange them immediately for in-store movies at no extra charge. Also, new movies are mailed from my online queue the next day. Basically you can get twice as many movies each month....assuming anyone has time to watch that many movies!

My dd does. She's at school in PA, not close to anything, so having Blockbuster by mail has been great for her.
