Wow, it could have been a lot lot worse!! Thank goodness they are safe. I know it was a bummer to lose their brand new toys but they can be replaced. I always had a fear when I first get a new car that I'd have an accident before my first payment!! Hugs, Shaggy

I am so glad your father and his wife were not seriously injured in that crash, having seen many a jackknife in this area, I know just how lucky they were....as for not calling you right away, well, that is just what a parent is apt to do, for lots of reasons. I am just glad that when he did reach you, the news wasn't horrific.

Thanks God that they are both OK. The rest, although unfortunate, can be dealt with.

BTW, I'm still keeping track of how many times you annoy me.

I spent a few hours with my Father today... he wanted to go looking at new campers already

He was looking at the 5th wheel as he has an appointment with the insurance adjuster this comming week and he wanted to get some info on the 5th wheel in case the insurance company offers to replace the truck cap or camper...

He plans to express interest in switching to the 5th wheel but wanted the info before working out the insurance stuff...

They are both doing well and thanks for the kind wishes...

How wonderful that the accident didn't scare him too much. A 5th wheeler is great. They drive a lot easier than a trailer. You also have a truck handy to drive around when you arrive plus you can use it at home for big purchases too.

A motorhome would be easier yet to drive but what do you do with it when you are not traveling? You have to store them.

What kind of information is he looking for? My experts are more horse trailer oriented but they would pull the same. By the way my best friend and riding buddy also drives a diesel F350. Her's is a dually but if she had it to do over again she would opt for 4 wheel drive instead. We have gotten stuck on wet show grounds once or twice in the past.

I think he was looking at price info as much as anything but he had a brand new fiberglass truck cap on the truck that got smashed in the accident so he wanted to tell the insurance company that he would just as soon not replace that.

He is still looking and thinking about what happened and what caused it and applying what he experienced to forward plans. He retires next spring (I think) and they wanted the trailer to allow them to take a nice long trip and see the country so he isn't going to put this off too long!

I don't think he wants a 6x6 but I am curious what the advantage of the duel wheels is. I assume it is to keep the truck safe in the event of a blow out as certainly the truck can handle the weight itself...

Yes we were talking about your dad yesterday as we were going to a horseshow and towing. She asked what your dad was driving...

Roll resistance mainly. Her husband used it to transport Harleys in a beavertail goosneck when they first got it. It doesn't do much for pulling horses though as it is only 2 wheel drive and parellel parking it is a B*TCH!

They are coming out with wide base single tires which are cheapper than duals and provide the same benefit.

Thankfully it was just property damage. Perhaps it is time to convince them to timeshare instead ?

My father has been TSing for many years and they have 2 or 3 weeks. He just likes fishing and other outdoor type stuff an the camper is the way to really do what he wanted.

I am dying to call and see what the insurance people said this morning when he called as this all happened late last week so I don't think he got to talk with his agent before today...
