    Do you believe in fate?

As defined in......The universal principle or ultimate agency by which the order of things is presumably prescribed. The inevitable events predestined by this force. Destiny!

I think that I do......Sometimes, it seems that each of us has a destiny, and that no matter what we do/don't do, we can not really control the outcome of things. Other times, I am convinced that things happen for a reason.

We all like to think that we are in control our lives, but sometimes, I really have to wonder.

If you change the way you look at things, the things you look at change.

BTW, I'm still keeping track of how many times you annoy me.

I think we control our interaction with our fate, thus creating the multiplicity of variables and possible outcomes that define human existence.

    How's that?

Why did I happen to bring up TS4M's right now and click on your thread? Why did I wake up when I did this morning?
    Why didn't I die while I slept?
Why does my wife snore like a truckdriver?

    There ya go...

I knew of a guy one time who met and married an exotic dancer named Destiny. That was a man who literally took his Destiny into his own hands.
“Maybe you shouldn't dress like that.”

“This is a blouse and skirt. I don't know what you're talking about.”

      “You shouldn't wear that body.”

I wish I could believe in fate/destiny but I don't. Maybe some things do happen for a reason (like meeting someone at a certain time when you may really need them), but I think that we have to work hard to make important things happen in so many cases. If you knew everything was all planned out, would you even try?

P.S. I also really wish I could at least believe in Karma...but I just don't think that all the people who deserve good things get them, and the people that are cruel always get punished. I wish it were so.

I believe that we all pick the road we choose.

BTW Rent the movie Deja-vu. There you will see how Destinty was changed.

That's the interesting thing about fate, if it did exist. I don't think that we could change the way we live, or oddly enough, the outcome.

The trick with Karma, for believers, is that it is not always dished out in the same lifetime in which it is earned...

                Ahhhhh.....That would explain it.

I don't know, I believe in Karma, too. I'm a real sap when it comes to this stuff.

Yes, I believe in fate. But I also believe that at times we can influence it, or at least have some choice.

Yes. I definitely believe that people eventually get exactly what they deserve, but so much of that is not seen by us. I just trust that it happens.

Fate, I dunno. It's one of those things I don't completely believe in, don't completely not believe in...

Maybe Fate is 'the end result' and free will is the middle part where the end is unavoidable, no matter what. If you don't know your fate, how do you know you won't like what's in store?

And either way, wouldn't you rather strive to make the part within your control (assuming that some is) The Best it can be? I'd rather try, and have no power in the matter, than sit there and let life happen to me. I guess I like to believe that I have at least a little free will, but, would I really know if this free will was actually scripted?

oh gees. this is too heavy for the end of the week...

I wonder too but don't know the answer. Why are some people so fortunate and others not? It's not always their own doing so it must be fate. It also depends where you live and if you have good genes, I would think.

I believe in free will, which is what God gave all of us.

Some are more fortunate, but I believe it is smarts mostly and not fate. I think smart people are going to be luckier because they get more education and are aware when there are great opportunities in front of them.

Kharma is a strange thing because I think the bad things that you do tend to come back and bite you in the "you know where."

That is exactly how I feel. Why was my niece's meeting at the World Trade Center on 9/11 cancelled a half hour before the planes hit? On the other hand, why did other people make it to work that day? Why was I in a car accident that should have claimed my life but I walked away from it (well, hobbled anyway).
And why do I NEVER win Megabucks???

I believe we control our own destiny. We all receive the cards we are dealt and it's up to us to make something good of them.

I do believe in Karma. If you roll the dice enough times, your number is going to come up eventually and you will pay the price for your evil deeds. It's kind of like gambling in Vegas. You can beat the odds for a while, but if you play long enough, the house will eventually take all of your money.

One can make conscious decisions in their life's plans, safety, habits, diet, exercise, career, friends, etc. However, others make those same decisions. When you & they meet, the outcome may have nothing to do with your or their decisions, but the interaction/reactions.
                              Is that fate?
