  • Maui and Kauai first time!

    Gotta love timesharing...
I'd been to Europe and a few islands in the carribean before I got into timesharing, but since buying a timeshare I've visited Cabo and now for the first time, going to Maui and Kauai!! Can't wait. My children are sooooo spoiled and they have no idea how good they have it. They've been to Cayman, Cabo San Lucas, Smuggler's Notch, and soon the state of Hawaii. (Cancun, too, in a year and a half...)

We have May gray too but last year, we had beautiful clear and sunny days as the weather is so different from usual. There is enough to do in this area to keep you busy.

PS. I remember that 4ARedOctober had posted a link why we have June Gloom. Here is the explanation.
Thanks so much for this information. As we are from Northern California we may not be too disappointed about the June Gloom. We stayed at the FSA in a 2BR during Christmas 2005 and had a really fun time. Still figuring out whether we can go since we loved the resort during our last visit.

If you don't go I will have to throttle you.

My experience is that any gloom is gone by afternoon, although I rarely see Catalina Island at that time of year.

        • Hawaii:Hawaii for 20th Anniversary

We are having a great time this year - our last child is in college and so Mike and I have had a couple of nice getaways and vacations - the most recent was Morritt's Tortuga Club, Grand Cayman - what a beautiful and relaxing week.

At the end of June we are spending a week in Oahu at the Fairfield (Wyndham) Hawai'i at Waikiki Beach Walk, followed by the NCL 7-day Hawaiian island cruise.

We'll have been married 20 years this June and that is a wonderful accomplishment and reason for celebration. (No, I didn't lose track of the years, I already had a blended family when I met Mike stepdaughter and stepson from first marriage lving with me, daughter)and then our son was born just after our first anniversary. ) It goes without saying that Mike is a brave and optimistic man for not running the other way.

This summer we'll spend some time in Virginia Beach, (my oldest son may join us) and have a 4 day long weekend booked in Branson in early November.

I also am lucky to have planned a 'girl's week' at Murrell's Inlet (Ellington at Wachesaw Plantation) with 2 nights in Charleston (Lodge Alley Inn) - joining me will be my oldest daughter, my youngest sister and my niece.

I donated the use of two weeks to the local non-profit I volunteer for. They were used in a fund raising raffle and provided a week each at Manor Club and at Horizons Marriott resorts.

I'll make all these plans and then am dismayed when I wonder how can I take the time to go on these vacations I've reserved. But the decompression - away from daily work and home is priceless.

Best Wishes to you all as you enjoy your 2007 travels. ... Noelle

            • I have something to report that will make all timesharers happy. We're making a couple of long car trips this summer that we will have to break up with an overnight in a hotel. One stop will be in Harrisburg, PA. I booked two nights in a hotel in Harrisburg, near Hershey...try $170 per night for a suite (so it's almost big enough for us and two of our kids).

On the other trip, we want to stop in Mystic, CT. The hotel room there will also cost $170 per night.

These are three-star, Holiday Inn-level hotels, just fairly well reviewed on tripadvisor.

So all those times we went to a timeshare presentation and the salesperson said, "The price of hotels is going up!" and we said, nah, we can almost always get a good deal on a hotel room...well, guess what, it's true! The price of hotels IS going up.

(In major cities, we get incredible deals on Priceline. But I don't like to use it for smaller towns with mostly two- and three-star hotels of iffy quality.)

              • Our next trip is Myrtle Beach in July staying at Shore Crest I - 2 bedroom ocean front!!

I need some help in planning the one after that. I want to go to Christmas Mountain Village in March. 4 adults, 3 kids. Which type of villa do you think would be best. Need at least 2 bedrooms/2 bathrooms. Which is nicer 2 br villa or 2 br timber? If I decide to splurge which is nicer 3 br townhome or 3 br deluxe timber?

We are flying in. Will I need a car or is the resort pretty self contained with enough to do? Limo from airport? Kids love to swim, nice pools?

I will be going during blue season and not for a full week. Can I book now or do I have to wait until 5 months out?

Thanks for any information on this resort and any help you can give me before I try and book.

                • Okay, I just finished my two quick trips (and I still need to write the review for La Jolla). So, my next planned trip is to the Big Island of Hawaii!

                  August 2 - 18:
Two nights at the Kileaua Lodge
                  One week at Kona Coast
One week at Paniolo Greens (unless a trade for the Bay Club or HGVC) comes through

Sounds like fun, but for best advice I would suggest posting your CMV question in the Midwest forum as it will get more views from people familiar with the resort and area.
