  • I have an angel or two on my shoulder

I had to drop off some report CDs at Hackensack University Medical Center today. Drove down the Palisades and headed towards Route 80W. Some of you may know the area in Teaneck, some won't.

There is a ramp off I-95 to get on I-80. There is a turn, not a bad one. Two lanes. Use right lane for local, left for express lanes. The marked speed for this curve to the left is 35mph.

I am not a slow driver nor am I insane. I took the turn at somewhere between 45 & 50mph.

Paying attention to the truck passing on my left that is going really fast. Not an 18 wheeler. One of those regular delivery type trucks. You know how you think to yourself...wow I wonder what the hurry is he must be going 60, 65mph...

as I am completing this thought something must have shifted in the cargo area because he came flying and tilting across both lanes of traffic, the truck lands on it's rightside, slams into the retaining wall, bounces back. Maybe 5 yards in front of me.

Hit the brakes and thank GOD everyone else did too. Gas starts spilling all over the road. Smoke starts coming off the back of the truck. Men are on cellphones. A driver of a service truck jumps out with a fire extinguisher.

They got him out and he appeared rather unharmed. I sat for 10 minutes thinking wow I came that close to being dead. Shaking like a leaf.

They said they did not need me to stay so I continued on my errand. Dropped off my records and stopped on my way home to visit my 2 angels that are buried in nearby Englewood....obviously I have things that still need to be finished here on this earth.

I'm still shaking. I think I will go to the bar in this forum now and ask for something strong.

ETA 1010wins bulletin : Bulletins (TEANECK) I-95 NORTHBOUND AT I-80 OVERTURNED TRACTOR-TRAILER . BLOCKS THE RAMP TO WB RT 80 LOCAL LANES..EXPRESS LANE RAMP HAS BEEN REOPENED

That is a scary feeling, more so when a truck is involved. Thank god nothing happened to you.

I'm guessing most of you are aware of what happened when a speeding truck had a "mishap" out here on Sunday morning. Luckily, no one else was involved.

            Lawren....Thank God you are safe!!!!

I can only imagine how frightening that must have been. You are right, someone was watching out for you.

            Hugs....and drinks, too!

If you change the way you look at things, the things you look at change.

BTW, I'm still keeping track of how many times you annoy me.

If it were me, I think I'd rather be on a horse.

              I'm glad you're safe.

I have to win cheesecakes from someone during the next NFL season.

I heard this on the news but did not see it. I heard the highway melted.

It could have been much worse <as LuAnn points out > at approximately the same time as my little "almost" this happened not too far north of me on the Thruway.

McDonald's Truck Bursts Into Flames on N.Y. Thruway

NEW YORK (1010 WINS) -- A tractor-trailer carrying McDonald's supplies flipped over and landed on the southbound lanes in Hillburn at exit 15.

The accident occured at around 2 p.m. at the intersection of the New York State Thruway, Route 287 and Route 17 in Hillburn, near the New Jersey border.

FWIW this was my alternate route....I took that way last week and decided the Palisades was my better bet.

ahhh so I am left here to buy and ship you cheesecakes....

Yes although there is always a possibility of injury with horses, death is not common. Maybe I should go ride instead of having that second double huh?

Oh my god, Lawren! I know exactly where that is, it's about ten minutes from my house. I am shaking sitting here. I can picture the whole thing. It's dangerous at that spot. If you're on the residential roads, it's like you're on local roads, and then suddenly you're on a highway. But for the trucks and things coming off the highway, they think they're still on the highway, because it looks like a highway there.

My MIL had an accident there and that's right near where that family was killed by the ton of bricks falling off a truck last year. Thank god you're all right.
