  • Food Network made me hungry!

    Have you ever done this?

I was sitting watching one of my favorite shows, Good Eats with Alton Brown. Alton was preparing and cooking fresh fried calamari. Watching him prepare it made me ravenous for calamari. As soon as the show was over, I drove over to the local Nick's Pasta and Pizza restaurant and bought some fried calamari and had a salad.

I don't know if Good Eats was responsible, but that was the best tasting calamari I'd had in a long long time.

Yes. But contrary to your experience I usually find the bought dish a disappointment. When that's the case, my next course of action is buying the ingredients to make it myself.

I'm too lazy for either optionQ Ain't driving & ain't cooking; just rummage through the refrigerator & cabinets for food!

Oh Mike-your post is so timely. Just today I stumbled across a wesbite called Cancun menus-I have an exchange for next year-so I am looking and reading and next thing you know-I can't do without mexican food-LOL. I fall in to the Syndey category as I only went as far as my kitchen and made do so it wasn't exactly what I wanted. We have excellent mexican food here in Calif-but I was short on time. The power of suggestion is amazing.

I love Alton's show! It was his show that helped me re-connect with some very sweet memories of my mother. His explanations about why we cook something or bake something in a precise order...well, that was my mother....she really understood these concepts. Since watching his show, I know my cooking has improved and I now have many moments where I relive learning at my mother's knee...it is sweet.

As for calamari....nah, nothing could make me hunger for that!

Oh yeah....All the time. If I see something that looks scrumptious, I have to have it. If I can't run out, and get it, I usually get it, in a few days time. Terrible how that works.

Another thing, never, ever go into an Italian deli, when you're hungry......You'll be sorry.

If you change the way you look at things, the things you look at change.

BTW, I'm still keeping track of how many times you annoy me.
