American Legion Poppies

Last week I bought my annual paper poppy from an elderly veteran. I remember my grandfather selling the poppies outside shopping centers each year before Memorial Day. Each year when I see the vets outside the supermarket I think "oh is it poppy time again?" and I remember, fondly, my grandfather. He sold those poppies each weekend in May, then donned his American Legion uniform and marched in the Memorial Day parade. I was always proud of him, and those poppies make me feel warm and fuzzy inside.

I got mine today outside of Boscovs. I always donate to the veterans.

I bought mine about a week ago outside of Walmart. I thought that it was a bit early, but I always like to get one too.

When we did shows we were always at the Minnesota Fairgrounds on Poppy weekend and I always bought one.
