I didn't realize that there were so many 99 cent stores. I can't remember ever seeing any, other than the two I just saw in AC.

If you change the way you look at things, the things you look at change.

BTW, I'm still keeping track of how many times you annoy me.

They're the newish thing (well, the past 15 years or so) in business start-ups for people who don't have a lot of money to invest in a franchise or a new type of business.

Oh OK....I guess I have been missing them.

After this thread, I bet I start seeing them. I probably just haven't payed much attention to them, in the past.

I would never buy anything that involves swallowing it - no food, candy, nothing.

I buy lots of cards and wrapping paper, gift bags, etc. And odds and sods for our trailer, kitchen stuff, etc.

They're not usually located next to Gucci, Burberry, etc...

You mean, I've just been looking in the wrong places.

You would not buy in Palm Desert?

THEIR STORES? WHOSE STORES? I would suggest you look at my post above. I cannot imagine Palm Desert not an acceptable city for shopping even if you have money to burn.

It should be pretty obvious that I was referring to the 99 cent stores in general. The OP did not say anything about Palm Desert nor did I. I have no idea how you got the idea that I was implying anything about Palm Desert. I only live an hour away from Palm Desert and we visit there frequently.

My 1st comment was talking about 99 cent only stores and I differentiated from the other "dollar stores". When you are in Palm Desert, I suggest that you check out the store at 72845 US Highway 111 in Palm Desert.

I seriously doubt that we will be visiting any stores. Shopping is something that is definitely not on our agenda when we are vacationing.

Really? I love shopping on vacation. Even in grocery stores and little bodegas and things. It's interesting to see what's available in other parts of the country and the world. I think it tells you a lot about how people really live in that particular place--intriguing from a sociological point of view. (And you never know what you'll find!)

I mean, I'm not dropping my suitcases and saying, "C'mon, honey, let's dash over to Cancun's biggest 99-cent store!" But we do enjoy the away-from-home shopping experience.

I usually research the area I will be traveling to, in advance, to see what stores they have.....I also make a point of scanning the area, from the airport, to see if I can see any fun stores, to check-out.

                                Shopping.....It's my favorite pass time.

We just took a short trip to NJ, with friends of my DH's. First time traveling together......The poor unsuspecting wife went shopping with me. I dragged her all over NJ, to every possible shopping area. At one point, I had to get her water, and let her sit, for a while. She was getting ready to pass out, from exhaustion.

I don't think they will be traveling with us, in the future.

I did ask her a few times, if she had had enough, and she kept saying, no. I finally took the hint, when she told me that she would wait for me under the gazebo, until I was finished...... Heck, I did find her a beautiful necklace for her sister, at an unbelievable price, tho.
