I remember being in the big outlet mall in Williamsburg two summers ago, in July, and the heat index was 120 degrees. At about 1:00, I had four huge shopping bags and I was dragging across the parking lot as the heat rose from the asphalt in shimmering waves. My only thought: "Must...get...to...J. Crew...must get...to...J. Crew...."

BTW, I'm still keeping track of how many times you annoy me.

FDA: Throw away toothpaste made in China
        POSTED: 7:21 p.m. EDT, June 1, 2007

WASHINGTON (AP) -- The government warned consumers on Friday to avoid using toothpaste made in China because it may contain a poisonous chemical used in antifreeze.

Out of caution, the Food and Drug Administration said, people should throw away toothpaste with labeling that says it was made in China. The FDA is concerned that these products may contain diethylene glycol.

The agency is not aware of any poisoning from toothpaste in the United States, but it did find the antifreeze ingredient in a shipment at the U.S. border and at two retail stores: a Dollar Plus store in Miami and a Todo A Peso store in Puerto Rico.

check out the store at 72845 US Highway 111 in Palm Desert.
Opekansas, thanks for the address! We go to Palm Desert for several weeks every winter & fall. I hate loading up the trunk with all the kitchen supplies like baggies, paper plates, coffee filters, etc. We always make a Cosco trip to get our meat & alcohol. But the paper goods at Costco only come in the humongous gigantic sizes. I never thought of the Dollar Stores for the paper goods. Great idea!

As for shopping on vacation...that's the only time I do any actual shopping. Of course it's mostly the "window" variety.
