  • Cougar Kitten TV!

Some have you have been SO kind regarding my current trials and tribulations with Spot the Leopard Gecko. Thanks so much.

I thought I would share a funny story that involves Spot in a way and the foster kitten that never left last year. Cougar is an odd little tabby. Now nearly 10 months old. He climbs up walls and runs sideways up the stairways, using the the side carpet as a hold. hmmmm perhaps we should have named him spiderman?

When we came home from the exotic animal specialist last week my son and I got busy removing all the crickets from the cage and setting them up in their own small aquarium so they could not bother Spot. We put them in my son's bookcase.

Well Cougar has been positively entranced with "Cougar Kitten TV". and bugs moving around under glass just proved to be to irresistable to "Brat Cat". 9AM Sunday morning, CRASH BANG! Aquarium on floor, bugs loose in the room and the pile carpet full of sand. UGGH!

Now of course I wasn't thrilled with the kitten but it had been a while since we did a deep clean and obviously we had a good excuse to do one. DS found $24, hey when was the last time a room paid you to clean it??? and his room looks better than it has in years.

Needless to say his door is now closed.

    NO COUGARS ALLOWED!

Lawren....Sorry that I'm laughing. But just picturing the whole seen, had me cracking up.......... If that happened to me, I would probably be crying.

I just can't seem to be able to deal with the cricket routine. I give you a lot of credit!!!! You have the patience of a saint!!!!

Look at this way, you got your carpet cleaned. One less pain in the butt job, behind you.

How is Spot doing? I'm hoping a little better, at this point.

If you change the way you look at things, the things you look at change.

BTW, I'm still keeping track of how many times you annoy me.

Well I wasn't laughing when it was happening but the post was meant to be amusing. and yes Emmy totally predictable given the kitten aspect!

Spot is feeling much better. "K" came and gave her the shot the other day and it was a lot easier than I had imagined.

Leopard Geckos do have "voices" but are generally silent. Tonight when I picked her up I got a whole blizzard of little clicks. You see one of the three times she is picked up each day is for mouth swabbing, which she abhors. As far as I know Spot can't count, so I have to patiently work on getting the mouth open, some gruel in, swallow, and THEN I get a co-operative lizard.

Angela I really am within an ace of tossing the crickets in the yard. They skieve me. Anyone who has lived in an apartment in NYC does NOT want to deal with live bugs in their house.! However, I need a couple on hand to try to tempt Spot to go back to live food. DS will touch them I just can't do it. I do not want to be force feeding a lizard for 10 years either.

Glad this had a good ending, was laughing remembering... 2 situations.

DH was an elementary school teacher with classroom pets.
Christmas break came and the chicks -- yes chicks - that they hatched and kept in a handmade incubator had to go somewhere so they came to our kitchen. It was most disconcerting to hear peeps all the time -- and our two cats were almost out of their minds circling the incubator. The incubator was too heavy with the motor and made of styrofoam so they really couldn't do anything to it, nor could they see in, fortunately.

The other incident was more like Lawren's -- this time the gerbils had to come home for the break. The gerbils had babies, so we had 8 total in the habitrail. This made the cats INSANE as you can well imagine, watching these little critters scurrying all over. Cat TV at its finest. One day, someone (not I) left the BR door open and then I heard a crash, and the cage was on the floor, babies and parents moving everywhere. We got them all back safe and sound but it was not easy.

No more school pets came home after that.
