  • 7th. Floor and below - Fire truck ladders

I was talking to a fireman yesterday, and I asked if him if there was a 14 floor hotel building. How high would your fire fighting ladder go? He told me that the fire ladders only go's up to the seventh floor. For, safety purposes it is better to stay on the 7th floor or below...

I just felt like sharing this information...

I now stay on lower floors due to hearing something similar.

My husband has been a firefighter for 32 years for Denver and he doesn't worry about being on the top floor of a hi-rise because there are usually two to four stairwells and it doesn't take long to run the stairs down.

Never go into the elevator when there is a fire or other emergency that has damaged a building because the elevators will stop working when the power is cut off. It is too risky.

You cannot live your life being scared of tall buildings. There are hoses and fire hydrants on the floors and the firefighters will run the stairs up to get you. Sprinkler systems work very well and will take care of most fires. Also, there would be an evacuation plan for a tall building.

What I worry about, when I am in a tall downtown building, is the strange swaying when it is really windy.
