  • Probably the most fun I've ever had on a horse!

Today we went out on a Hunter Pace for the first time.

A hunter pace is a marked, timed ride thru fields, across streams and jumps and thru the woods. There are usually 3 divisions. Novice for beginners. Hilltop for pleasure riders and Open for more advanced riders. The host locations sends out 3 teams to get the optimum time for each division the morning of the pace. You are not informed of the time when you ride out. There is a usually a full stop break mid-ride and areas where you must walk.

There were 90 riders that competed in the 3 divisions today. Beautiful weather for it here in the Lower Hudson Valley of NY. Sunny, low humidity and warm.

We had a great ride and ended up in the ribbons. Not bad for our first time! The Optimum time for our division was 1:13:14 and we came in at 1:16:05. We are not sure exactly where we placed in the top 6 as there was one last team out in the Open Division when we left.

I can't wait for our next one! October 14th.

Lawren, this sounded like the perfect day to do this ride on your favorite horse.

Thanks for the explanation too as I can understand what it all means, otherwise I wouldn't have.

Sounds like fun!! After I got off our horse in Canada I swore I'd never get on another horse. I had to go to the chiropracter for 3 weeks!! I wish I could ride. Hugs, Shaggy

                    Lawren,
Glad you ribboned and had tons of fun as well. Sounds lovely... from here.
Think it's great and enjoy reading about it. Never been on a horse myself.

If you change the way you look at things, the things you look at change.

BTW, I'm still keeping track of how many times you annoy me.

                          Results are in

The really funny thing is we went for a nice ride, no problem, let's enjoy ourselves....

However K and I have been doing these things for so long and we are both so successful. We are just very competitive in nature.

We heard we wouldn't be in the top 3 so we left. They can keep those green and pink ribbons.

We did purchase a picture and I'll share that when it comes in.

So we have a parade to do next weekend.

What are we doing before the parade? Another hunter pace.

10 miles in 1:18 and the horses are ready for more even if the riders aren't.
