French Press Coffee Maker
I read, try to find the thead, but couldn't that the French Press Coffee Maker is the best. Any experience out there and if so, what do you think and where do you get a good quality French Press Coffee Maker?

I've used them many times over the years, along with pretty much every other type of coffeemaker. They're okay. Other people swear by them, and I've had some great coffee made in a French press, but they're a bit of a pain to use, what with boiling the water separately and then waiting for the coffee to "steep" before pressing. And it's a little up-close and personal with boiling-hot water. And I always get a few grounds in my coffee--which doesn't actually bother me, but it seems to bother other people a lot. Also, the coffee gets cold very quickly. And they're kind of fragile; you have to treat the press part gently.
Bottom line: They're nice for a weekend morning when making and drinking your coffee is a bit of an occasion and you can make a little pleasant ceremony out of it. Or after dinner, with guests, they're also very nice and kind of festive. But for day-in, day-out, got-to-get-out-the-door-for-work coffee, they're not great.
They often have them on sale at Amazon. Bodum makes them.
There will now follow a long string of posts about how French presses are the greatest thing ever. People who love them LOOOOOOOOVE them. -
They all work on the same principle. I bought one at Fred Meyer for 8.00 and it works great. Starbucks also sell nice ones. The most important things are, the size of pot (2 or 4 cup) as you need to make it to serve fresh. The quality of coffee. The proper grind. Best is to go to a coffee shop and have them grind " for a French Press" BobComment

My Aunt gave me "to-go" mug french press. I have not gotten the hang of it. I take awhile to drink my coffee, so the grounds just sit at the bottom of the to-go mug.
Has anyone used one of these. I would love to know the trick?Comment
