  • My new toy!!!

I'm loosing my mind. I bought a new camera. I have been wanting a digital SLR forever and I finally got the deal I wanted. I got the Sony AX100. It was voted camera of the year by Popular Photography. I've turned from a Nixon fan to a Sony fan. Sears matched Best Buy's price for me (b4 my discount) plus 18 mos free interest. I'm headed to Disney & Houses of Summer Bay Sat. I can't wait to try it out!! shaggy

              Shaggy,
Welcome to the world of SLR's. I'm sure you will have a great time with your new camera as I know you love to take photos and the SLR will add a new demension to your photo taking.
Next you will be looking at new lenses, filters etc.
Looks like a great camera. 10 megapixels is nice.
Did you get it with the 18-70 lens. That's a nice standard lens, gives you that 50-70 range and also you will find the wide angle at 18-30 to be very nice for your landscape shots.
              Enjoy your new toy!!!

                Leslie,

Congratulations on your new toy. I am curious if you shopped on-line. I have always found that the on-line vendors are much cheaper than any store. I have purchased my last 4 digital cameras at Profeel which I highly recommend for both price and service.

My lens is 18 to 50 , wish it was a 70. I didn't shop on line because I needed the 18 mos no interest. I got it for $630 with my discount. I'm not sure I know how to use it yet. shaggy

SLR means Single Lens Reflex. It is the kind of camera where you have removable lenses and when you look thru the view finder you are actually looking thru the lens via a small mirror that is positioned in the camera body to allow you to see the scene thru the lens and therefore see exactly what you will be taking a picture of. When you push the shutter button the mirror snaps up and allows the light from the lens to carry the image directly to the film or to the image sensor in the case of a digital SLR.

John, out of courosity I checked the camera on display and the lens is an 18-70 but mine was an 18-50. Now what, do I write Sony? or try to get my boss to switch lenses? shaggy

                          Shaggy,
I would definately see if you can get the 18-70 if the f stop range is the same. It is a more versitile lens.
                          again enjoy the new camera.
