In the olden days, when people put TVs into a cabinet, entertainment center or whatever, the DVD player, VCR, Tivo, Stereo, etc went in that center. What do you do now that you mount the TV on the wall? Do you end up getting a new center for under the TV?

So, if you were going to buy a 50-60 inch HDTV, which one would you buy - Plasma, LCD, Rear Projection?

Plasma gives you more bang for the buck than LCD. I wouldn't even consider rear projection. Plasma is much better than LCD if you will be viewing it from an angle. However, Plasma can have image burn-in problems whereas that is not a problem with LCD. If you intend to use it for video gaming than you definitely want to go with LCD and NOT Plasma.
Personally, I would purchase a Panasonic LCD in the OP's case because of the gaming.John
