  • Involvement in charities

In addition to the other animal things I do.

I belong to the NY State Horse Council, Palisades region. We are not for profit and we gather funds this way and that. Fairs and parties and raffles. Parades, exhibition rides, etc.

We meet once a month. We are not a huge group, maybe 60 of us all told, but we manage to come up with $5 or $6k which we designate to different charaties each year. Horse rescues, therapuetic riding centers, People to People, etc.

November is when we vote on where and who we are cutting checks to.

Turns out one check we approved last year was never sent. Huge fight. "They" don't need our money. Well HELLO? We voted on sending them money and it was approved. Why wasn't it sent. OK it was an oversight but if we send them the money now it will effect our current budget.

    DUH!

This was money for a child, ONE CHILD, to scholarship in a therapeutic program we endorse. Maybe the program doesn't need the money but that ONE CHILD does!

After fighting for 90 minutes we are sending last year's check and one for this year as well. These things make me so tired at times.

and I'm not looking for pats on the back here I just needed to let off more steam as DH listened to my howling for 20 minutes and said "enough". After 18 years you would think he would have gotten used to my "All or Nothing" attitude. At least enough to have bought earplugs.

You have my sympathies. I work a lot with charities and volunteer organizations. Sometimes well meaning people can be frustrating.
Thanks to my sister, we own a leg lamp.

Lawren....I'm glad that you were able to convince them to send the check. Not only for the child's benefit, but for the charity's as well.

Personally, I think if your donors got wind of promises not kept, they would be very hesitant to donate again.

Good job, and thanks for all you do to help others!

If you change the way you look at things, the things you look at change.

BTW, I'm still keeping track of how many times you annoy me.

Maybe you could add one more fund raising project this year or into next year to offset the difference.
Keep up the good work !
