I just received the latest issue of "Where to Retire". I really don't know why I received it as I don't subscribe to it but in any event I did.
They had a lengthly article on retiring in Temecula CA which was interesting to me because we live in the Temecula Valley. It was a pretty decent article but had a couple glaring errors.
They listed the annual precipitation as 24" It should have been listed as 12" which is half what they said. They also just mentioned Murrieta as a nearby town in one line. That is also not true. Murrieta is a city of 97,000+ which is exactly the same size as Temecula and the two cities adjoin each other so it is virtually one metro area with a population of approx. 200,000. Murrieta and Temecula are basically the same with the same demographics, housing, amenities, etc. Murrieta is a little newer as it has grown much faster than Temecula in the past 5 years but they are virtually the same for all practical purposes. Housing prices have dropped substantially in the past few months. There are many bargains to be had now compared to a year ago. My wife and I saw a beautiful 2600 sq. ft single story 4 BR, 3 BA, 3 car garage home in a great neighborhood for sale at $380,000 a couple of weeks ago. This home is about 5-6 years old and would have sold for approximately $575,000 a year ago. It was not a repo.
