  • No wonder the MF are so high!!!

So DH says, "Whatcha want for Christmas?" "Nothin' Honey," I reply.

"Well, wait a sec. There is something. Remember that really cool, lighted magnifying mirror in the master bathroom at Four Seasons Aviara?"

"Yeah, the one mounted on the wall by the counter that moves up and down & pulls out on that scissor expando rod thingy & lights up with a switch?" he says.

"That's the one! I'd like one of those for our master bathroom." says I.

Fast forward. Hubby calls Aviara & asks for the brand. Nice lady calls back with all the info. Name of the distributor. Brand of the mirror (some la de da French outfit.) Cost that they paid....for each mirror.....are you ready?

$300.00 each. Wholesale. Bought in bulk. So I don't think I'm gettin' one anytime soon!

I have friend who runs a store with a large selection of magnifying mirrors. I PM'd you his contact info.
“Maybe you shouldn't dress like that.”

“This is a blouse and skirt. I don't know what you're talking about.”

      “You shouldn't wear that body.”

My sil got me a little magnifying mirror with a light a few Christmases ago. I was extremely insulted that she would think I needed something like that. Now, it is my favorite thing in the whole world.

It's a darn good thing I'm an upstanding, honest, considerate exchanger or that mirror may have ended up missing after my visit. Heck, I felt quilty taking the extra little shampoo bottles the maids left everyday!

That dang mirror cost more than my wall sized beveled one in our bathroom including the labor for the 3 guys who installed it!

I knew I had good taste!

I know the mirror you mean but I am sure there are MANY price points for that item.

Maybe I don't mean the mirror you know? Myriad mirrors, you know.

Ah. Similar situation for me, but saw/used the mirror on a stay at Treasure Island LV. Could not find the exact thing, so next visit out there, we checked the back of mirror and contacted mfg. Must be the same company, because it was about $300 for a qty order! It really was the nicest I had ever seen. I was too cheap (er, frugal) to drop $300 + on a mirror.

Bed, Bath & Beyond has one sometimes. They are not always in stock. It was not as nice as TI for sure, but for $80, I sure do like it now!!

This is the very type of thing that causes me to ask, who approved the cost of this item in the first place? If someone had looked into the cost in the first place, maybe a less costing item would have been just fine keeping the owners fees as low as can be.
On another post, a person stated of a 14% increase in fees. There was very little response which means to me that it is no problem for most, just write another check. Members are forced to buy a new pool. Am I the only one that sees that as owner abuse? Isn't anyone interested in holding down cost? There should be a cap on how much extra owners have to shell out from one year to the next. If it were me I would be there in a minute demanding cost figures. Let me see the contract bids! Do we even need a pool? Owners just seem to go along without any questions. So, that's why resorts get what they want. Owners need to demand that they vote on increases. You would see fees held down then. I think if there is such a large increase owners should ask themselves, what am I going to get that I don't have now for all this extra money!
If someone doesn't challenge the man,the man will get all he wants.

A very defined 'picture' of what Bing looks like is starting to develop.

People who buy into Four Seasons WANT super deluxe mirrors, Bing! They are willing to pay top dollar, Bing. At my little cheapo bought resale timeshares I don't pay as much 'cause a cheapo mirror from Target is fine by me but I sure as hell want a decent pool, Bing. So if that plain jane not so gussied up pool needs a bit of a facelift it's okay by me to put in my fair share of dollars to make it all nice & pretty. If you are happy renting a crappy 30 year old condo from RCI with an old sofa bed & formica counters and no pool, then go for it. If it makes you happy, you can go ahead & feel superior cause you went on vacation for $16.32 a day! Good for you. But quit telling me I'm a sap because I'm willing to pay a bit more than you.

Keep your pot stirring to other threads, Bing. This one is for light hearted banter. Sheeesh....

So if your house needs a new roof do you hire the first guy you called and say yes without even asking how much it is going to cost? Same thing !
