Some of you may recall, our son packed up and took a position in AZ. That was in March. So far, he's changed jobs three times but he's hanging in there. Doing pretty well, all things considered.
This is a message I just received:
Quote ------------------------------------------------------------
Christmas
It’s not the matter of where or what is going on for the holidays so to speak. Home is where the heart is as they say. For most, including me, at the holiday time especially, the heart wants to be with family. Sweets and traditions aren't the same without them.
For example: We had an ice storm in VA a few years back over Christmas that knocked out the power for many and having cold hot dogs didn't matter, because family was together.
I also miss the meaning of Christmas and celebrating the birth of Christ. These days its seems to be a competition of sorts to provide the most, if not the best present money can buy. I can't tell you the last time I seen a Christmas choir and the nativity scene at church. How about the reading of the scriptures that tells the story of the birth? It has been a LONG time and I think way too many have let it slip away.
Yes, I miss family all the time, but I miss the real tradition and spirit of the season also.
End quote-------------------------------------------------------------
He resides in Chandler, just to the southeast of Phoenix.
Anyone in the area know of great Christmas services? I'm sure he would travel a bit if He knew where.
