First Album was Venus and Mars by Paul McCartney and Wings. I have no idea what the first CD I purchased was. Having played in bands for many years I have a pretty extensive and varied collection of CD's and had an extensive collection of LP's. I draw a blank about my first cd, but my first lp was Janis Joplin with Big Brother & the Holding Company. I got it on sale for $1.50 and I was probably 15 or so. I ran home, played it, then phoned my best friend and tried to sing to her "take a little piece of my heart.."
She still makes fun of me about that...
My first 45 was the Battle of New Orleans and I was VERY young!Comment

P.S. I just bought a new car and now have XM radio which has a 70s station, among other things. This morning I heard "Delta Dawn"...lol. I was about ten when that came out....Comment

Had to wrack my brain for the LP but I think it was Bachman-Turner Overdrive, Not Fragile. The CD was Police, Synchronicity.

I'm sure it was something totally nerdy, like Big John by Jimmy Dean. Maybe North to Alaska or Battle of New Orleans.
I was easily impressed by catchy things. Now I go for shiny things, things that dangle, things that blow in the wind . . .
Then there was my 8-track era. I could give you the list, since they are in a box around here somewhere, as is my Electrophonic stereo (I use that term loosely). How about Listen to the Warm by Rod McCuen?
I remember several years ago now, I was kinda singing Rocky Racoon by the Beatles, and my BIL started laughing at me, wondering how I made up such a stupid song. I hauled out the ole Electrophonic and popped in that big Beatles double tape album and played it for him.

Oh yes. I had them all on 45s. Actually, I've been trying to really remember my first LP and I think it was a Harry Belafonte album when I was about 10. There was no such thing as stereo but we did have a record player. No TV though. OOoooohh, first ever live concert....Ray Charles in Sacramento. I was 13. Surrounded by people (mostly colorered, the term used back then) dancing in the aisles. It was fabulous. A full 2&1/2 hours with no break!!!
Last live concert was James Taylor. That was years ago. I can't afford the ticket prices anymore.
