I've been battling trigeminal neuralgia (in my face) since April. The conventional medications have not been controlling it well. Today I asked my neurologist for a referral to an acupuncturist, and he said I may as well try it. Has anyone here had experience with acupuncture, good or bad? Thanks.

Jacki,
I think it may be a good choice for you. At least worth trying. I'm sorry you aren't doing better, I have been thinking about you.
I tried it for migraine with some moderate success, but I didn't tolerate the needles well, they made me very dizzy. Lesson learned, don't go on an empty stomach.
I am getting ready it to try it for the nerve pain I am having in my arm/hand, it is supposed to be better for some ills than others, but I think it may have a good shot (no pun intended) with muscular and nerve pain.

It did not work for me to stop smoking or lose weight years ago. But then again I don't think I really wanted to quit back at that time so I might have jinxed it.Timeshareforums Shirts and Mugs on sale now! http://www.cafepress.com/ts4ms

I've done it a number of times and been pleased. Like everything else, it truly does matter who does it. When I lived in Denver, I had three different practioners, and all were teriffic. I've not had good luck here in Arizona. The first time I went I was expecting nothing, but for nearly a year had been going to various M.D.'s; my foot problems had reached the point that I simply could not walk without a cane. I hobbled into the office; I walked out--without a cane. I figured it would be one of those things where he would say I'd have to come every week for the rest of my life, but at that point, I would have committed. Instead, he said I should come three, maybe four, more times. It was three. I saw him and two other practioners several more times for various ailments and was always pleased. (That has not been the case in Arizona, but I'm sure I just haven't found the right person. Denver has a school of Chinese medicine, and that may account for the number of good doctors there.)"You cannot legislate the poor into prosperity by legislating the wealthy out of prosperity." Jackie,
Sorry to hear that you're still not feeling well. I've never had it, but I think it's worth a try. I have read that many swear by it. At this point, you really don't have much to loose. Maybe you'll get some relief.....I hope so!Angela
If you change the way you look at things, the things you look at change.
BTW, I'm still keeping track of how many times you annoy me.
